The Early Years Classroom Dina Programme is being delivered in collaboration with a number of Early Years settings across community and private childcare providers as well as Department of Education & Skills Early Start projects.
The Classroom Dina Programme is a preventative model delivered to the pre-school class over a 22 week period using a whole group approach.
It aims to strengthen children’s social and emotional skills through:
The programme is delivered twice a week as part of the groups ‘circle time’ where the lesson is introduced, the key skills of the lesson are then reinforced through an age/stage appropriate activity as part of the ‘small group time’.
Each lesson encourages and supports valuable and fun learning opportunities for all children in the group.
The Toddler Programme will give parents the skills to encourage their toddler’s language, social and emotional development and equip them with the skills to help their child to learn predictable routines, handle separation and reunions and how to use positive discipline to manage misbehaviour.
Parents only attend this group and is ideal for those with toddler's aged from 1 to 3 years of age. It is a great opportunity to meet other parents and share experiences.
The Incredible Years® Toddler Programme is delivered over 12-13 weeks.
In the Toddler Programme, trained Incredible Years® Group Leaders use video clips of real-life situational vignettes to support the training and stimulate parenting group discussions and problem solving practices. The parenting group format fosters peer support networks and shared learning.
The following areas are covered:
The Incredible Beginnings™ programme is for child care providers of children ages 1-5 years old. Teaching methods discussed include using social and emotion coaching, nurturing child-directed play interactions using narrated descriptive commenting, proactive teaching with predictable routines and consistent positive behaviour management strategies.
All of these approaches rely on building positive relationships with children using sensitive and responsive approaches.
The Incredible Beginnings™ Programme is run similarly to the Teacher Classroom Management Programme and is implemented over 5 full-day workshops, and covers the following topics:
