‘The accreditation process has been a positive experience overall’
Bernie Pentony and Liz Doran, from St. John’s JNS Early Start, recently became accredited in the Incredible Years Classroom Dina Programme. Here in their own words is the story of their Accreditation Journey.
We have been delivering the Incredible Years® Classroom Dina Programme in the Early Start setting in St. John’s NS in Drogheda for the past two years. We decided to go for accreditation back in September 2016 as we have seen the dramatic and positive impact that the programme has on our practice and interactions with the children and parents in our setting.
With the ongoing support from the The Genesis Programme project team – in particular Alice Malone, Claire Gleeson and Mary Lennon – we started on our accreditation journey which involved two video submissions and detailed paperwork. We were very fortunate to have had both Claire and Mary on hand to offer us peer support and consultations. A further peer coaching session with Incredible Years® Trainer, Peter Loft, in March this year provided an extra boost to our confidence.
The accreditation process has been a positive experience overall, with both of us receiving great feedback and affirmation of our professional practice from Jamila Reid, Incredible Years® Seattle.
From a professional perspective, we truly recognise the value and importance of being involved in delivering a high quality evidence based programme. We look forward to further professional growth and strive to continue to deliver a high standard Classroom Dina Programme.
